Academician Zhou Kesong’s main research interests are in thermal spray coating, thin film, laser and other modern surface engineering technologies as well as their engineering applications. He has successfully developed the first robot-controlled large low-pressure plasma spray coating equipment in China, and has carried out many pioneering research and engineering applications in low-pressure plasma spray coating, plasma spray coating - physical vapor deposition (PVD), thermal spray coating technology in place of hard chromium plating, and composite surface engineering technology.

He has undertaken and presided over more than 40 scientific research projects (such as National Project  973, National Project 863, and military projects) and provincial and municipal projects. He has won 1 second prize for national scientific and technological progress, 3 first prizes, 10 second prizes and 7 third prizes of provincial and ministerial level. He has published more than 200 theses, and has edited and co-edited three books. He has been honored twice as an advanced worker in the national defense and military industry, and conferred the title of national outstanding worker in science and technology.

Zhou Chenghu, expert in geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing applications, and doctoral supervisor. He received his doctoral degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Research Institute of Geography, in 1992. He was selected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Department of Geographic Sciences, in 2013. He currently acts as the Vice President of the International Geographical Union, Deputy Director of the Chinese Society for Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography, and leader of the team for introducing innovations and startups under the “Zhujiang Talent Program” of Guangdong Province. In May 2020, the Academician Geospatial Drone Self-Piloting System Project was launched and the Intelligent City Grid Management with 5G Connected Drone was officially kicked off and put into mass production in Danzao Town. Both projects were led by Academician Chenghu Zhou. These projects will provide a strong force and a hard support to the leaping development from a digital city to a smart city.

Wu Qingping, expert in food safety science and technology, and doctoral supervisor. He received his PhD degree from South China University of Technology in 1999. He was selected as an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Department of Environment and Light Textile Engineering, in 2015. He is currently the honorary director of Guangdong Institute of Microbiology, deputy to the 13th National People's Congress, vice chairman of Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and vice chairman of China Edible Fungi Association. In order to address the serious microbial safety risks in China's food industry, Academician Wu Qingping has invented advanced common monitoring technology and established a relevant theoretical system from his basic research. He has presided over 50 major scientific research projects of national, provincial and ministerial levels, and obtained 40 provincial-level accredited internationally leading or internationally advanced achievements. He has won 2 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress, 5 first prizes and 4 second prizes of provincial and ministerial levels, 2 excellence award for Chinese patent, and 1 golden award for patent in Guangdong Province.
